Adjudication: Provincial Exams
Adjudication policy is reviewed on a regular basis. Current information is found
online in the Handbook of Procedures’ chapter about examinations
adjudications: http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/exams/adjudication/ Adjudication is a process to determine the ability to modify the administration of
Provincial Examinations. Modifications to the content of the
examination papers are
not allowed. Adjudication is intended only for students who are able to achieve the intended learning outcomes for the course to be examined.
Adjudication is required when the student is unable to write the examinations as they are usually administered due to either predictable (a pre-existing condition or situation) or unpredictable circumstances (an unforeseen situation or condition).
A "Predictable Circumstance" is a situation in which a student who has historically been identified as a special needs student requires adaptation to the administration of the Provincial Examination in order and to demonstrate his or her knowledge or skills on the examination.
An "Unpredictable Circumstance" is an unforeseen event such as an injury, illness or death in the family which adversely affects a student's ability to write a Provincial Examination.
